Without further ado, here is Britta Greenviolet’s article, "Making Money as a Mystic: 5 Tips to Profit and Prosper as a Spiritual Business."

Hello!

I’m Britta GreenViolet, and I’m delighted to offer this article to Alex’s Rainbow Reflections community. Inspired by the podcast episode we just recorded together, I’d love to share a bit more on making money as a spirit-led entrepreneur.

First: being spiritual and building a business are not in opposition, and fear-based marketing is NOT the only thing that sells.

Despite what nearly every business coach has taught you, you don’t need to push relentlessly on pain points, spark FOMO, exploit vulnerabilities and manipulate your people into buying. Not only is this not the only way to do business, but you would never treat your friends that way… some of whom are probably your buyers or biggest fans!

I’m on a mission to re-humanize your work. Because your values matter. Your heart matters. Your integrity matters. I teach people how to embrace their humanity again as they build a body of work that doesn’t break their bank account, soul or nervous system. Because it’s time we learn to bridge the gap between the spiritual and practical, and thrive in the material world as a spirit-led human.

So let’s talk about mindful money management. Here’s 5 of my very best game-changing tips to help you create more financial flow in your business, and more ease in your body, heart and mind as you do it.

WORDS TO LIVE BY

You know how sometimes, you hear a single sentence that seems to change the course of your existence? One of my teachers uttered this phrase recently, and I can’t stop thinking about it even months later: “When we engage in the material world without the experience of the sacred, we are simply in repetitive cycles of pleasure and pain.” Please write this on a post-it and read it daily. Challenge yourself to see it all as sacred— paying taxes, doing dishes, writing marketing emails, posting on Instagram. If we think that our “spirituality” is over there, and our “business, marketing and branding” is over here… pain isn’t far away. Take a breath, remember, and re-engage.

BEFRIEND YOUR NUMBERS

According to the Oxford dictionary, “enough” means as much or as many of something as is required. Simple, right? So why are we constantly anxious about making enough money? Most of us have no clear definition of what “enough” actually means when it comes to our finances. The good news is there happens to be an elegant, streamlined strategy to calculate your actual baseline — your "enough" number. Ready for it? Add up all your personal and professional monthly expenses. You’ll need to either track your expenses or go through bank statements, because you want actual, accurate real-life numbers from the past 3 months to base these numbers off. Then, add the personal and professional expenses together. Boom. Meet your “enough number”! I teach folks to have a slim version that represents your basic needs, and a plump version with more room to spend, save and invest. Now you actually know the number of dollars you need, and you can begin to work backwards, devising your offerings in a way that can meet those needs. If you want more help with this, including a mindblowing spreadsheet to walk you through each step and do the math for you, get my Sacred Money Mastery Toolkit

ADD MORE COLOR TO YOUR MENU

I totally geek out on helping my clients design, reimagine or diversify their menu of offerings, which is crucial in order to meet the needs of different income levels without sacrificing your financial wellbeing. Something we don’t hear much about or understand is that “accessible” pricing requires a specific business model. Walmart has “accessible” pricing because they exploit their employees and have shady AF business practices. Marie Forleo has “accessible” pricing because she has millions of active followers and tens of thousands of email subscribers. If you don’t fall in either of those categories, then you need to have some offers that pay you more, so you can also offer things that pay you less. Equitable pricing doesn't just apply to your customers… it has to also be equitable for you! Afterall, if you’re breaking your bank or nervous system to offer low pricing to as many people as you can, that’s not a healthy, sustainable business model.

ROMANCE THAT MONEY

Notice I didn’t say your money… because it’s not really yours! We are all simply stewards of the Divine Mother’s dollars. So let’s become good, devoted stewards. For me, this includes a weekly Sacred Money Date. I smarten myself up, put on my favorite pink lip and white linen blazer, and get into it. On my date, I do things like check all my accounts, pay bills or estimated taxes, and track revenue. I love knowing this date is a non-negotiable on my calendar each week, because it means that when anxious thoughts pop into my head in random moments, rather than abandon my current task to go send a rushed email response to my CPA, I relax and make a note to add this task to my weekly date. For a full list of everything I recommend you do during your weekly Money Date, my Money Toolkit has you covered. Everything you need (and more) is inside.

SLOW YOUR ROLL

If you’re looking to monetize your passions or go all in toward your soul’s calling, I am the first one to cheer you on! And, I’ll also be the first one to say patience, my love! We are playing the long game. This is not a sprint, it is a marathon. Please do not quit your day job too soon. If you’re waking up stressed about not paying your bills every day, that’s not creating the conditions for your highest unbound creative genius to emerge. Create a transition plan. Slow down, be strategic, and practice patience. That’s not to say you can’t begin now, or start making good money now. This is a both/and situation! Embrace your pace, and take the next smallest step forward.

May these tips be supportive for you, dear one!

I’d love to connect deeper if you feel the call. I’ve got a free Overachievers Guide to be Peaceful and Prolific, and lots of other wisdom offerings on my site.
