Why I Redo My Website Every Leo Season

(And Why That's Not a Coincidence)

For the last two weeks, I've been in my website. Not a full redesign, but almost. I spent the time learning Finisher Layer, a new, advanced Squarespace design tool, and implementing it on my site to add some animations and a little extra sparkle to what was already there.

Partway through, I had a realization that stopped me mid-edit: I do this every year. Not content, I'm in my messaging and copy constantly, that's just ongoing maintenance for me. I mean the visual layer specifically. Every August, without fail, I find myself back in my site adding some kind of new design feature or visual polish. Sometimes it's bigger. Sometimes it's medium, like this round. But it happens like clockwork, and until now I never asked myself why.

Here's why: I'm a Leo rising. And Leo season is when the sun activates my first house, the house of self, identity, and how I present myself to the world.

My Website's Design Is My First House

If you're not familiar with astrology, your rising sign is the mask you wear, the way you present yourself before anyone gets to know the rest of you. It's your first impression. Your first house governs exactly that: your image, your presence, how you show up before a single word is exchanged.

For me, that's not just how I dress or how I walk into a room (although those are areas of focus are super important to me too.) It's also how my website looks and feels.

I take the visual side of my website seriously. I find real, tangible worth in how I present myself online, because for so many of my clients and potential clients, my site is how they first connect with me. It's my handshake, my outfit, my opening impression. So when the sun lights up my actual first house every August, it makes complete sense that I'd feel the pull to dive back into to my site's design specifically and make sure it still feels like me.

I just never had the language for it before.

From Random Habit to Intentional Rhythm

Here's the shift that matters most, though. Before this, "redoing my website in August" was just something that happened to me. It was a pattern I didn't choose, that I couldn't plan for, that showed up whether I had the bandwidth for it or not.

Now I get to work with that energy instead of being surprised by it.

That means I can look ahead at next Leo season and actually plan the site refresh into my calendar, instead of scrambling to make room for an urge I didn't see coming. It means I can decide in advance whether it's going to be a full glow up year or a small tune up year. It means the energy isn't wasted, it's channeled.

This is the whole heart of Astrobranding, honestly. It's not about letting astrology run your business for you. It's about noticing the patterns that are already running your business, and using your chart to understand why they exist so you can finally work with them on purpose.

What I Actually Changed on My Website

This year, I was really drawn to learn Finish Layer, a new Squarespace design tool I haven’t had the time to dig into yet. I took the time to actually learn it and then implemented it across my site, adding advanced animation and small moments of movement to sections that already existed.

Here's the honest reason I made space for it. When you're deep in client work, it is so easy to miss new tools and features as they roll out. I don't always have the bandwidth to explore something new when I'm heads down building for someone else. So this became a way to scratch that itch, to keep learning and keep my own skills sharp, and then actually show what I learned somewhere people can see it.

My own site is also just a low stakes place to try something new. There's no client to run it by, no worrying about whether they'll love it or hate it, no pricing conversation attached. I get to experiment freely and let it live exactly as I want it to.

So not only did I get to learn a new design tool that I plan to bring with me into every client project I work on moving forward, I also got to add some pizzazz to my website. It was a major win!

If You've Noticed Your Own Pattern

I'd bet money you have a pattern you fall into too in your own business. Maybe it's not your website. Maybe it's the itch to reorganize your workspace every spring, or the urge to overhaul your offers every fall, or the way you always want to start something new right around your birthday (that one's an easy astro tell, by the way).

Whatever it is, it's worth asking what's underneath it. Because once you know, you stop fighting your own rhythms and start planning around them.

What Gets Activated for Your Rising Sign

Here's a light, simple starting point for each rising sign, business flavored, so you can see what might be quietly running in the background for you too. If you don't already know your rising sign, I love the Chani App for pulling up your chart, you just need your birth date, time, and location.

  • Aries Rising: Bold moves and new launches. You're likely pulled to start something, pitch something, or take action on an idea you've been sitting on.

  • Taurus Rising: Slowing down to refine. Think quality upgrades, pricing that finally reflects your worth, and making your offers feel more grounded and stable.

  • Gemini Rising: Messaging and content. You're probably the type to rewrite your website copy, start a newsletter, or get chatty in your marketing during this window.

  • Cancer Rising: Community and connection. This is when you likely feel called to nurture client relationships, warm up your brand voice, or start networking to build real connections with others.

  • Leo Rising: Identity and first impressions. This is website design territory, personal brand refreshes, and making sure how you present yourself still feels authentic.

  • Virgo Rising: Systems and refinement. You're likely drawn to clean up your backend, tighten your processes, or finally organize the thing you've been meaning to fix.

  • Libra Rising: Partnerships and balance. This is a strong window for collaborations, referral relationships, or making your brand feel more harmonious and aligned.

  • Scorpio Rising: Deep transformation. You might feel pulled toward a rebrand, a pricing overhaul, or going all in on a new direction you've been circling.

  • Sagittarius Rising: Expansion and visibility. Think new offers, bigger reach, teaching what you know, or putting yourself out there in a bigger way.

  • Capricorn Rising: Structure and credibility. This is when you likely want to build long term strategy, polish your professional presence, or plan further ahead than usual.

  • Aquarius Rising: Innovation and standing out. You're probably drawn to new tools, new platforms, or doing something differently than everyone else in your space.

  • Pisces Rising: Creative and visual storytelling. This is a strong window for dreamy imagery, intuitive offers, and letting your brand feel more like art.

This is just the surface. Your actual first house has so much more nuance than a single sentence can hold, your rising sign's specific degree, the planets in your first house, the aspects it's making, all of it shapes exactly how this shows up for you.

Want the Full Picture?

If any of this sparked something, that's your cue. An Astrobranding Reading goes deep into your actual chart, not just your rising sign in isolation, so you can see exactly what's running in the background of your business and finally work with it on purpose.
