Living Our Values in 2025
Welcome back to Rainbow Reflections. Welcome to all my new followers, and a warm welcome back to those who’ve been here for a while. I’m so grateful to have you in this space. I hope you all had a restful holiday season and a gentle end to the past year. May you feel refreshed, recharged, and ready to step into this new chapter with intention and clarity.
2025 so far feels like it’s been so long and yet not long at all. For me, it has been a strange in-between space where time stretches and compresses. But, I finally feel the momentum shifting.
2025 is a 9 year in numerology—a year of endings, closure, and reflection. It marks the final stage of a cycle, a moment to release what no longer serves us and prepare for the fresh beginnings ahead in the next cycle. In Tarot, it’s associated with The Hermit, a spiritually charged archetype urging introspection, wisdom, and a retreat into solitude for self-discovery. The Hermit teaches us to trust our inner voice and find clarity in stillness. It’s a time to ask ourselves meaningful questions: What patterns are we ready to release? What lessons have we learned from this cycle? And most importantly, how can we carry those insights forward? Numerologists suggest that 9 years also represent global shifts, humanitarian focus, and collective transformation. Similarly, Tarot experts emphasize The Hermit's role in guiding us through introspection and the pursuit of authentic wisdom. (For a deeper dive on the Hermit, check out the Moonbeaming Podcast episode on this!)
Basically, the energy of this year is pushing us to new limits. It’s asking us to live our values.
Here’s how I’m personally choosing to embody that energy this year:
Divesting from social media (specifically Instagram and Meta platforms): Mark Zuckerberg’s decision to remove third-party fact-checking from Meta platforms doesn’t align with my values. This shift raises concerns about the spread of misinformation, which is already a huge problem in our current world. Besides that, I don't know if it's just me but it feels like Instagram has not been effective for my business in a few years now. I've noticed it not doing much for me in bringing in clients and actual business revenue. So why would I dedicate so much tie and dedication to a platform that does not help me reach my goals? (Much much more about that to come soon.)
Focusing on long-form content: Instead of Instagram, I’m this year I am choosing to invest in platforms that truly serve me. I will be creating long-form content through blogs, newsletters, and Substack. Not only will this build my thought leadership, it will also positively affect my SEO and how discoverable I am online through more evergreen channels. As subscribers to my newsletter, you'll receive detailed updates about everywhere I'm interacting online as well as insights I gain from this shift as I test this new strategy and learn along the way.
Intentional time online: Where are we showing up? Which platforms and marketing strategies genuinely support us? For me, this means consuming less and creating more. I’m prioritizing spaces that allow for meaningful interaction and long-term value, rather than fleeting engagement metrics. This shift means being more present in places where I can share deeper insights, connect authentically, and avoid the constant pull of algorithm-driven platforms. It’s about aligning my time online with my goals and values—whether that’s writing thoughtful newsletters, engaging with my community on platforms that truly support connection, or simply stepping away when I need to recharge.
Building my own corner of the internet: As a web designer, I’m passionate about creating spaces we own and control, and I’ll be sharing more on this in the coming months. In a world shaped by late-stage capitalism, algorithm-driven platforms, and increasing restrictions on authentic self-expression, having our own corner of the internet is more important than ever. It’s a place where we can fully express ourselves, share our work, and build connections without being at the mercy of shifting platform rules or trends. I know that creating your own space online can feel intimidating—choosing the right platform, dealing with technical hurdles, and even just knowing where to start can be overwhelming. But I’m here to guide you. I’ll be sharing easy, stress-free strategies and tips to help you build and maintain your own little digital sanctuary (whether it's a membership, your website, a course, or whatever you're currently dreaming up.) Stay tuned for practical advice and step-by-step insights on how to reclaim your digital independence this year.
Investing in real-life (IRL) connections: In-person networking has been invaluable for me, and I’ll be exploring and sharing more about fostering meaningful connections offline. In 2024 I gained so much confidence, clarity, and yes—financial success—through prioritizing in-person networking. It’s not just about shaking hands and exchanging business cards; it’s about building genuine, lasting relationships that create opportunities and open doors you didn’t even know existed. Networking IRL has become a cornerstone of my marketing strategy, even though I'm a web designer! I firmly believe it’s a powerful complement to online efforts. I’ll be diving deeper into this topic throughout the year, sharing practical strategies, insights, and stories from my own experiences to help you harness the magic of face-to-face connections in your own life and work.
Rediscovering joy through hobbies: On a more personal note, I’m also planning on spending even less time mindlessly scrolling and far more time intentionally creating. I want to dive headfirst into my hobbies this year—more than ever before. For me, that means painting, drawing, jewelry-making, cooking, and playing the piano. These creative outlets aren’t just a way to unwind; they’re essential for my mental health, my clarity, and my overall sense of fulfillment. I’m excited to share more about these creative adventures with you throughout the year, and I hope it inspires you to carve out time for your own passions, too.
As we step further into 2025, I’m holding space for growth, alignment, and joy—not just for myself, but for all of us. This year feels like an invitation to pause, to reflect, and to make choices that align with our deepest values and aspirations. It’s a time to nurture ourselves, our communities, and our creative spirits in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable. Whether it’s through carving out time for hobbies, building intentional connections, or reclaiming ownership over our digital spaces, I hope this year brings you clarity, courage, and moments of unexpected delight.
Let’s step into this cycle with open hearts, ready to embrace both the challenges and the beauty that lie ahead. I’m so grateful to have you here on this journey with me.
Wishing you Rainbows,
